Can Eating Certain Foods Combat Hair Loss?

It is very likely that you will experience hair loss at some point in your life, since hair loss is experienced by most men and women at some point. Nobody wants to lose their hair, which is why the hair loss solution market has so many different products available that promise to slow down the hair loss process and make your hair appear thicker. However, these products are not the best solution for everybody and there may be an easier and cheaper way to fight hair loss.

When women lose their hair, it is most likely due to stress, hormonal imbalances and nutritional deficiency and changing your diet may be able to help with hair loss due to these reasons. Below are foods that may help you avoid losing your hair.

Spinach

Spinach is good for you for many reasons, since it is rich in vitamins and minerals, and helps to promote a healthy digestive tract. It is also good for avoiding hair loss, since having an iron deficiency is one of the biggest causes of hair loss. Eating food that is rich in iron, such as spinach, helps to keep your hair in-tact and your follicles healthy. Other iron-rich foods are red meat and broccoli.

Fish

Eating fish has many health benefits, since it is a low-fat protein.  In order for our hair to grow and remain healthy, we need to have magnesium, which is a nutrient found in many different kinds of fish, such as halibut. If you do not have enough magnesium in your diet, it can cause your hair to fall out. If you eat a diet that is rich in fish, you may be able to avoid hair loss.

Nuts

We are often told that nuts are good for us, since they are full of good fats and they release energy at a slow rate, which helps you to feel full for longer. They also contain a lot of oil, which is a great benefit for your hair. If you do not have enough oil in your diet, your hair can become dry and brittle and will be more prone to breakage. The oils in nuts help to build up the elastin in your hair and promotes healthy hair growth.

Eggs/Yogurt

Vitamin D is important for keeping your hair healthy, and eggs and yogurt are a great source of it. Vitamin D helps to reduce stress and depression, and since stress is related to hair loss, this is a great way to help your hair. Yogurt, especially Greek yogurt, is an excellent source of vitamin D and vitamin B5, which helps to keep your hair strong and healthy, and less likely to fall out.
